Faith Wanjiru enrolled in Gabriela's Hairdressing & Salon Management track while working full shifts at a supermarket in Nakuru, studying lessons on her phone during breaks and after closing.
Six months in, she was taking her first paying clients from home. By month twelve, she'd saved enough — combined with a small table-banking loan from her savings group — to rent a two-chair space.
The Salon Management and Business Skills modules, she says, mattered as much as the technical training. 'I knew how to do the hair before I even finished the course. What I didn't know was how to price a service properly, or how to keep a salon's books. That's what the business modules gave me.'
Eighteen months after her first lesson, Faith's salon has grown to five chairs and two employees — both of whom she's now encouraging to enrol at Gabriela themselves.
