Small apartments don't need less furniture — they need furniture that's doing more than one job. A console that also stores shoes, an ottoman that opens for blankets: every styling brief for a compact space should start with a list of double-duty pieces before a single item is bought.
Colour is the fastest way to make a room read as larger than it is. A single wall in a deeper tone, paired with light floors and ceiling, creates depth instead of flattening the room the way an all-white scheme often does.
Layered lighting — a floor lamp, a table lamp and one overhead source, each on its own switch — does more for a small room than any single bright fixture. It lets one room function as three: bright for cleaning, warm for evenings, focused for a desk corner.
