About the course
What you’ll learn
Fashion design teaches the thinking behind a garment, not only the making of it. You start with research and concept — mood, reference, silhouette and the question of who the garment is actually for — then learn to communicate an idea on paper.
Croquis and technical flat drawing come next, along with colour, fabric selection and the constraints each fabric places on a design. You develop a collection over the course: a coherent set of looks with a shared logic rather than a scatter of individual pieces.
Kenyan and wider African design context runs through the course, and the final module covers presenting a collection — line-up boards, look books and how to talk about your work to a buyer or client.
