AI Fundamentals

This is an applied course, not a machine learning theory course. It is about using AI tools competently in professional work.

You start with a working mental model of what large language models and image tools actually do, which is what makes the difference between productive use and misplaced trust. Prompting is taught as a practical skill with structure, iteration and evaluation.

The bulk of the course applies these tools to real tasks across the disciplines Gabriela teaches — drafting and editing, research, image work, planning and analysis. Limitations get a dedicated module: hallucination, bias, confident errors and the categories of work where AI output must be verified before it is used. Data privacy, disclosure and academic honesty are covered as professional requirements.
