About the course
What you’ll learn
Software development is the longest course in the ICT programme and the one with the widest range of outcomes. It assumes no prior experience.
You start with programming fundamentals — variables, control flow, data structures, functions — and spend real time on problem decomposition, which is the skill that actually separates people who can program from people who have memorised syntax. From there you move to version control, databases, and building a web application front to back.
The course is project-based throughout: every module ends with something that runs. You finish by deploying an application you built yourself and writing the documentation for it, which becomes the centrepiece of your portfolio.
